Shel Maala's Pacific Northwest Tour
Shel Maala comes down from the clouds once again, to fill the Pacific Northwest with Torah! From rigorous Talmud study in Seattle, to a wild Purim in Portland, to the sweetness of Shabbat in Vancouver, this is not to be missed.
Seattle
First, we'll have
An afternoon of davening and Torah Study in Seattle
Greenwood Art Collective - 8537 Greenwood Ave N
Saturday, February 28th | 10 AM-1pm
We’re honored to get to spend our shabbos teaching, praying and learning with the queers of Seattle. If you’re looking for a lil pre-Purim taste of Torah, this event is perfect for you. We’ll be davening Shacharit and studying the parshat ha’shavua. <3
Then, we'll visit Talmidei Talmideihon for
No Justice, No Praise
Greenwood Art Collective - 8537 Greenwood Ave N
Sunday, March 1 | 10 AM-1pm
Rosh Yeshiva Binya Kóatz joins Seattle's own Talmidei Talmideihon to eat brunch and share Purim-themed Torah. What is the connection between prayer and liberation? Is Achashverosh over if we want him to be?
Portland
Join us for
Divine Disorder
Tuesday March 3rd | 6:30 - 9:30 PM
Eastside Jewish Commons
What is true randomness, and how is related to the divine? With chance playing a huge role in holidays as disparate as Purim and Yom Kippur, let's see what disorder, and our responses to it, can mean for our lives and relationship with our tradition. An evening of pair and group discussion, along with some snacks and hopefully revelatory insights <3
We're also gonna have a lowkey hang at a table at Leikam (a Kosher brewery) No tickets needed, just show up We'll just chill, nosh, and chat about a text on mourning, the temple, and remembrance in Judaism
7:30-9 on Wednesday March 4th
Vancouver
From the Wilderness, A Gift
Trinity Grace United Church, 803 E 16th Avenue
Friday March 6 | 6 - 9pm
We'll be joining Davening Liberation Oraciones and Hamakom for a Shabbat evening of dinner, davening, and deliciously liberatory Torah study. Why was the Torah given in the wilderness? What does this teach us about boundaries, ownership, and universality?
